How it works
A clear process, from first call to next renewal.
Business energy does not need to be complicated. Here is exactly what happens when you work with Business Savings (UK), and what we need from you at each stage.
How it works
Three stages. No wasted hours.
A structured process, run by people who do this every day. You stay in control of every decision.
- 01
Compare
We understand the business, the contract and what matters most — then gather the options that genuinely apply to you.
- 02
Negotiate
Suitable commercial energy options are reviewed and compared, with contract terms and our fee explained in plain English.
- 03
Switch & Support
We help manage the paperwork and transfer, then keep supporting the account through billing queries and the next renewal.
In detail
What happens at each stage.
Five stages, each with a defined outcome. You always know where the process is up to.
1. Information gathering
We need very little to start: your business name, postcode, utility and roughly what you spend. A recent bill helps because it carries your meter number, consumption and end date, but it is not essential.
2. Market comparison
We approach suppliers who quote for businesses of your size and profile. Options are compared on rate, standing charge, contract length, what is fixed and what is passed through.
3. Contract review with you
You get the options in writing, in plain English, including the amount of any commission included in the unit rate. Nothing is submitted without your instruction.
4. Paperwork and transfer
Once you choose, the contract is completed and the new supplier arranges the transfer with your current one. Your supply is not interrupted — the physical connection does not change.
5. Ongoing account management
Your account is monitored: billing checks, meter queries, change of tenancy and, well before it matters, the next renewal.
Fair advice
Built around fair, transparent energy advice.
Business Savings (UK) is an energy intermediary and consultancy — a broker, not a supplier. Ofgem regulates energy suppliers and is developing the regulatory framework for third-party intermediaries in the business energy market.
We do not describe ourselves as Ofgem approved, accredited, authorised or regulated, because that would misrepresent the position. What we can do is point you to the official guidance so you can check the market for yourself.
If you would like documentation about how a specific contract is arranged, including any commission, ask us and we will put it in writing.
Our role, stated plainly
We are
An independent commercial energy broker and consultancy working on behalf of UK businesses.
We are not
An energy supplier, a price comparison website, or a regulator.
Your contract is with
The supplier you choose. Their terms, billing and supply obligations apply.
Business contracts differ
They do not carry the same statutory cooling-off rights as household contracts. We always confirm the supplier's cancellation terms before you sign.
FAQ
Business energy questions, answered properly.
The questions we are asked most often, answered without sales spin.
How does business energy switching work?
You provide a recent bill or your business and site details. Contract options are gathered from suppliers, compared and explained. If you choose to proceed, the paperwork is completed and the new supplier arranges the transfer with your existing one. There is no interruption to your supply — the physical connection does not change.
Do business energy contracts have a cooling-off period?
Business energy contracts do not carry the same statutory cancellation rights as household contracts. Some suppliers offer a short cancellation window as a matter of policy, but you should never assume one exists. We will tell you what the supplier's terms say before you sign.
How are energy brokers paid?
Usually in one of two ways: a commission included in the unit rates by the supplier and paid to the broker, or a fee agreed directly with the business. We confirm which applies to your contract, and how much it is, before you commit.
When should I renew my business energy contract?
Start reviewing several months before your contract end date. Suppliers commonly quote for future start dates within a defined renewal window, so acting early gives you time to compare properly instead of accepting a rollover offer under time pressure.
What information do I need for a business energy quote?
A recent energy bill covers almost everything: your meter number, consumption, current rates and contract end date. If you cannot find one, your business name, postcode and approximate monthly spend is enough to get started.
Can you help with multiple business locations?
Yes. Multi-site businesses are a core part of what we do. We map every meter and end date across the estate, group contracts where it makes sense and give you a single point of contact for all sites.
